Modular Japan Travel

Start Here

This site is not a list of things to see in Japan — it’s a set of ready-made one-day plans you combine yourself, like puzzle pieces, into a trip that fits your dates and interests.

Two kinds of pieces

Hub Day (A → A)

You explore an area and sleep at the same hotel you started at. Use Hub Days when you want to settle into one base for a city and explore without repacking.

Transfer Day (A → B)

You sightsee along the way while moving from one hotel base to a differentone. Use Transfer Days when it’s time to relocate to your next city or region.

How to choose Hub Days vs. Transfer Days

A sample route made from pieces

Here is a 5-day example that alternates Hub Days and Transfer Days:

  1. Tokyo East (Hub Day) — Tokyo hotel → Tokyo hotel
  2. Tokyo West (Hub Day) — Tokyo hotel → Tokyo hotel
  3. Tokyo to Hakone (Transfer Day) — Tokyo hotel → Hakone ryokan
  4. Hakone to Kyoto (Transfer Day) — Hakone ryokan → Kyoto hotel
  5. Kyoto East (Hub Day) — Kyoto hotel → Kyoto hotel
